Crazy ah!
I refer this blog post to this report here. According to the report, it shows how calculative Malaysia is. And after reading it, it broadened my perspective because I thought that Singapore was the only nation in the world to be nicknamed "Kiasu", but with this report, it just proved me wrong and shown how much more Kiasu Malaysia is by claiming certain dishes for the sake of it's tourism industry. Alright, let's pretend that whatever is said by Malaysia is true. What benefit is there? A couple more thousands or millions in the tourism industry? All these at the expense of it's bilateral and relations with neighboring countries? Sure there will not be any real war or major disagreements over the claiming for "copyright" over the dishes, but it involves work and in my opinion, unneccesary trouble. Malaysia is already seen as a screwed up country in my perception, with such high rates of crime, and everyday stories of Singaporeans being robbed. And with this, it just makes me really think, what good is there in Malaysia? Sure they have great food and things to do, but in my perception, is not a safe place and also a Kiasu country, like Singapore.
